OKCPS teachers who are going to the Oklahoma Council for the Social Studies Conference on Friday, if you find me at the conference it will be worth your time!
I feel very privileged to visit schools this week. I have met with so many amazing teachers and have seen some great things happening in OKCPS Social Studies. I am really excited about where we are headed and that we are taking this journey to excellence together.
I have loved being in PLCs and everywhere I have been this week there were teachers collaborating and working with a common goal of helping students be more successful. Thank you to Emerson, Centennial, Capitol Hill, Grant, Webster, Taft, Star Spencer and Jefferson for being such fantastic groups to work with and for being so welcoming to me. I am looking forward to visiting all other sites next week. I know it will be just as great as this week has been. Social Studies: Making the World Safe for Democracy calls attention the crucial role the social studies disciplines and our teachers play in the ongoing transformation of the American Republic. Social studies educators are the linchpin keeping our country safe for democracy and ensuring our students can bear the torch of freedom well into the future! As social studies educators, we understand the significance of World War I in transforming the United States a hundred years ago. Our conference theme honors the American military’s contributions to our freedom, safety, and liberty. Conference Brochure This conference will provide you with great professional development and strategies that can be used in class. I highly recommend it and will be there myself.
